Google Gone – What If Google Didn’t Exist?

Google Gone

What To Do With Google Gone

If Google Didn’t Exist Would It Change What You Are Doing Online?

Monday morning and you are up out of bed, exercises done, breakfasted and into your office to start another busy week.  You boot up your computer only to find that your home page, that was once the easy to load page owned by Google, says:

Google Gone for Good

Just that…. no explanation (well were you really expecting one?)

So say this actually happened.  Where would you be placed if Google did shut down. Where would you now sit in the whole scheme of the internet thing……

What would you do?  Have you positioned yourself so that if Google disappeared you would still be seen online?

Have you got all your ‘Eggs’ in the ‘Google Basket’?

Consider This Scenario

You have invented and decided to manufacture the Perfect Orange Swizzle Stick.  You have done your research and found out that this is now the product of the day and what people need and are feeling the pain of going without. Yes there definitely is a great market out there for people wanting to own your Perfect Orange Swizzle Stick.

Later that day you are contacted by the World’s Leading Store who wants to sell your Perfect Orange Swizzle Stick. They want your product to feature in all their stores worldwide.

Are you sitting pretty right now?

You bet! The cash register is ringing and people are lining up with their credit cards in hand.  You have finally arrived and you have got it made.

You now have your big break and you decide to hone in and target the consumer at the World’s Greatest Store.  So you:

  • change all your packaging to target this store
  • don’t bother advertising in other market places
  • you up production of your Perfect Orange Swizzle Stick to Meet Demand
  • employ more staff
  • look for bigger premises

Why not?? You have now been accepted by the World’s Leading Store no need to go elsewhere.

Then……

There Comes This Day

The World’s Leading Store hires Mr Panda Bear.  He is in sole control of your destiny.  You have all your eggs in his basket.

He is your Nemesis.  He decides that your Perfect Orange Swizzle Sticks no longer meets the standards of the World’s Largest Store…

Alas…my poor Perfect Orange Swizzle Stick owner you just disappeared.

The World’s Leading Store no longer stocks your product.

Just like that in an instant you are nowhere to be found……

Worst of all you don’t know why and will never find out.

OK  -  SO WHAT’S MY POINT?

Many small entrepreneurs with online sites run their business this way.  The rely solely (or mostly) on Google for traffic.

This is fine all the while Google likes your site. In fact it is a great thing.  You have all this free traffic coming to your online store or opportunity if you have your rankings correct with Google.

BUT ….  What happens if Google no longer thinks your content is high quality.  Enter Mr. Panda….. who changes the rules and decides not to rank your site well anymore or removes your site completely from their store (the Google Index).

A POINT OF NOTE HERE – GOOGLE GONE ??? – NO GOOGLE DOES NOT HAVE TO CLOSE DOWN IT CAN SIMPLY DECIDE NOT TO LIKE YOU ANYMORE!

So what is the secret?….simple do your best to keep the Panda happy.  Create great content that Google loves and post it on a high ranking site to get traffic and links back to your website. Don’t keep all of your content on your site. Broaden your horizons and leverage others to keep in good with Google. This way you will still be keeping Google traffic and receiving traffic from the not so large search engines.

POINT TO REMEMBER – Google IS NOT the only traffic source.

Your sites don’t have to rank in Google at all if you use this method. In fact you don’t even have to build a following to the site.  Create your following by using your content posted elsewhere and sit back.

What you need is a fully optimised platform to post your content on.  Really very simple!
